The HIMA X-AI 3201 (Part No. 985210213) is a 32-channel analog input module for HIMA’s flagship HIMax safety control system.

This module has been certified to the highest safety integrity level, SIL 3 (IEC 61508), and is specifically designed for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), and Fire and Gas Detection Systems (F&G) in large-scale process industries. It is used to acquire high-precision analog signals from various field sensors.

Key Functions and Technical Features

High Density and Safety Architecture: Integrates 32 high-precision analog acquisition channels into a single HIMax rack slot, significantly reducing wiring and space requirements within the control cabinet. It employs a multi-microprocessor architecture and features comprehensive self-test and diagnostic functions.

Open-Circuit and Short-Circuit Detection: The module monitors the line integrity of each channel in real time. When an open-circuit or short-circuit fault occurs in a sensor or transmission cable, the module detects it within microseconds and alerts the upper-level system.

Seamless Redundancy and Interference-Free Hot-Swapping: The HIMax system employs unique seamless redundancy technology. Even when the X-AI 32 01 module is removed or inserted while operating at SIL 3, it will not interrupt running control logic or cause false trips.

SIL 3 High-Reliability Measurement: The module incorporates independent hardware voting and overvoltage protection mechanisms, effectively resisting strong electromagnetic interference and ground potential shifts in the field to ensure accurate acquisition of critical process parameters such as pressure, flow, and temperature.

Application Scenarios

Emergency Shutdown System (ESD): Acquires signals from pressure, level, and temperature sensors in oil, natural gas, and chemical plants to execute safety interlock controls.

Fire and Gas Monitoring Systems (F&G): Connects to combustible and toxic gas detectors (4–20 mA signals) for concentration monitoring and alarm triggering.

Combustion Management Systems (BMS): Suitable for safety monitoring and combustion control in large power plant boilers and furnaces.
